Jenő Lisztes was born in Budapest and began playing the cimbalom at the age of four. Playing the cimbalom is a tradition in his family: By taking up the instrument, he followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, where he received training in Roma music from Jenő Soros and graduated as a cimbalom player and teacher. Since 2006, Jenő has been a member of the „Roby Lakatos Ensemble“. Additionally, in 2007, he founded his own jazz trio called „Jeno Lisztes Cimbalom Project“. He plays regularly with internationally renowned symphony orchestras and has performed in concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall, the Vienna Musikverein, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Bozar Brussels, the KKL Lucerne and the Royal Albert Hall (2018 at the BBC Proms as soloist). He is featured on Hans Zimmer's soundtrack to „Sherlock Holmes 2 - Game of Shadows“ and was invited to the European Parliament for a short solo interlude on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
